iPod Movie Rentals? Meh…

Think Secret’s reporting that Apple will announce iTunes movie rentals at the upcoming WWDC (we’ll be there — will you?). Our take? Kind of a yawner actually.
I’m willing to pay for rentals a-la Netflix, but those are high-quality/high-res films I can watch on my big screen. Am I willing to rent for my iPod? Probably not. I don’t watch enough videos on my iPod, nor do I watch them frequently enough to make it worth my while - but might check out one or two occassionally to take with me on a flight. Even then, my cost threshold is going to be very low, given that I’ve already got about 3 apps that can convert a DVD - even one from NetFlix - down to my iPod.
Even with the eventual release of the long-anticipated new video iPod, I don’t know that I’d value watching movies on it enough to rent at a volume level that would make me a valuable customer to Apple. Now, if that new device comes with a much higher resolution output, that would warrant me connecting my iPod dock to my big screen, then let’s talk
